Bob Marley Music announces the remix and release of the seminal classic 'Africa Unite'. The track, originally written by Bob Marley himself, was released on the 1979 album Survival and produced by The Wailers and Alex Sadkin.
The will.I.am remix is available at the itunes music store and is a continuation of recent festivities marking Marley's 60th birthday. All proceeds from the sales with be split between the Bob Marley Foundation, the Rita Marley Foundation and the will.i.am Foundation.
The remix came about when Rita Marley, wife of Bob Marley called will.I.am directly to ask him. As a fan of the Black Eye Peas since their first album, Rita knew it would be a good fit.

May 14, 2004 Rome, Italy -- Nearly two decades after producing the historic "We Are the World"
recording, music legend Quincy Jones is organizing a massive charity
concert in Rome for a campaign aimed at helping children in
war-ravaged cities. The event will benefit Jone's Listen Up
Foundation, which raises funds and awareness for young victims of
violence.
"We Are the Future" will be part of the third annual Globalization conference to be held on May 16 and 17. The Globalization conference will include more than 50 mayors from around the globe. "We Are the Future" is expected to draw more than one million fans May 16th to Rome's Circus Maximus. The event's all star lineup includes Muhammad Ali, Angelina Jolie, Jay Z, LL Cool Z, Alicia Keys, Youssou N. Dour, Lionel Richie, Chris Tucker, Oprah Winfrey and more... Julian Marley, son of the legendary Bob Marley is flying into Rome today to join Alicia Keys on stage to perform the song "WAR" which was recorded by Bob Marley with words from a speech by the deceased Emperor of Ethiopia, Haile Selassie. This song which speaks of the need for a guarantee of human rights is especially relevent to current issues in the world today. Jones is hoping to bradcast the event worldwide and is negotiating with a U.S. network and Arabic broadcaster al Jazeera. |

The Bob Marley Foundation Ltd. USA completed its inaugural benefit auction on eBay. Several items, including a Bob Marley Gibson Guitar Les Paul Custom, Catch a Fire leather jacket, and Bob Marley Gift Set, signed by Chris Blackwell, sold over a seven day period and raised over . Recipients of the auction include the Florida A & M University to establish the Bob Marley International Music Scholarship, JRDC Shashamane Basic School in Ethiopia, Mary's Child Home for under age mothers in Jamaica, and the Rhoden Hall Basic School in Bob Marley's hometown of St. Ann. Foundation director Cedella Marley - Minto, Bob Marley's eldest daughter said, "Our work has just begun."
